Our client is looking to recruit a driven and proactive Trade Sales & Customer Service Assistant to join our growing team. This role is focused on developing relationships with trade customers, generating new business, and supporting our external sales representatives, while maintaining excellent service standards at our busy trade counter.
We are looking for a strong salesperson with a commercial mindset who enjoys building customer relationships, identifying opportunities, and following through on commitments. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of tasks, follow up on sales opportunities, and consistently deliver results.
This is a target-driven role with commission opportunities for the right person.

Purpose of the Role
The Trade Sales & Customer Service Assistant will play a key role in developing trade sales, supporting our external sales team, and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers while actively seeking new opportunities.
This role involves trade counter sales, CRM management, lead generation through online platforms, telesales activity, and preparing quotations for our field sales representatives.
We are looking for someone who takes responsibility for their work, follows through on tasks, and ensures things are completed correctly without needing constant reminders. Initiative, organisation, and accountability are essential qualities for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
Trade Sales & Customer Relationships
  • Deliver professional and knowledgeable service at the trade counter.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade customers.
  • Identify opportunities to increase sales and grow customer accounts.
  • Attract new trade customers through proactive engagement.
Sales & Lead Generation
  • Generate and follow up on construction and trade leads using online tools and platforms.
  • Conduct telesales and follow-up calls to potential and existing customers.
  • Manage and update CRM systems to track leads, opportunities, and customer activity.
  • Work towards sales targets and business growth objectives.
Sales Support
  • Prepare quotations for external sales representatives.
  • Follow up on quotations to convert opportunities into sales.
  • Assist the sales team with order processing and customer support.
Trade Counter & Store Operations
  • Provide flexible support at the retail/trade counter when required.
  • Assist customers with product advice, orders, and enquiries.
  • Maintain strong product knowledge across hardware and building supplies.
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in sales, hardware, building materials, or trade environments preferred.
  • Strong sales ability and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organised with strong follow-through on tasks and commitments.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and manage priorities.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems, online tools, and telesales activity.
