Internal Sales Manager

Location: Portlaoise, County Laois



We are seeking a highly organized and commercially minded Internal Sales Manager to lead and develop our internal sales team. The role involves overseeing daily sales operations, driving performance, and ensuring customer satisfaction within a fast-paced steel trading or distribution environment. This is a key leadership role aimed at maximizing revenue from both new and existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead the internal sales team to achieve company sales targets and KPIs.
  • Monitor team performance, provide coaching, and conduct regular reviews to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Drive day-to-day sales operations, including quotation generation, order processing, and customer communications.
  • Maintain key customer relationships and act as an escalation point for complex inquiries or complaints.
  • Collaborate closely with external sales, procurement, logistics, and production teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to inform pricing strategies and customer engagement.
  • Implement and manage sales processes and CRM systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell across the product range.
  • Lead internal sales meetings and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Ensure the team maintains a high level of product knowledge, especially related to steel grades, applications, and industry standards.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in internal sales, with a minimum of 3–5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of steel products, grades, and relevant industry applications.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • High competency in CRM/ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical mindset with strong commercial acumen.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering a high standard of service.
