At Elk Recruitment, we are looking for a driven Fire Engineer to join our client’s growing team based in Kildare. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Fire Engineer to make a real impact in an innovative and growing organization.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) and Disability Access (DAC) applications.
  • Review architectural drawings and specifications for compliance with fire safety requirements.
  • Prepare fire safety reports and supporting documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Undertake site inspections during construction to monitor compliance with approved fire safety designs and statutory requirements.
  • Inspect fire compartmentation, means of escape, fire stopping, passive fire protection measures, and fire safety installations.
  • Prepare site inspection reports and identify areas requiring corrective action.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, building control authorities, and clients on fire safety matters.
  • Assist with fire strategy development for new and existing buildings.
  • Review and assess proposed design changes for fire safety implications.
  • Maintain accurate project records and contribute to quality assurance procedures.
 
Requirements:
  • Degree in Fire Engineering, Building Surveying, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of fire safety legislation, building regulations, and fire engineering principles.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and construction drawings.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD/BIM software would be advantageous.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
 
Desirable:
  • Experience in fire engineering consultancy, building control, architectural practice, or construction.
  • Familiarity with Irish Building Regulations, particularly Technical Guidance Document B (Fire Safety).
  • Knowledge of Fire Safety Certificate and Disability Access Certificate application processes.
  • Experience carrying out construction site inspections and compliance assessments.
  • Working towards or holding membership of a relevant professional institution.
