At Elk Recruitment, we are looking for an Estimator to join our client’s growing team based in Citywest. The Estimator will play a crucial role in assessing project costs, preparing accurate and competitive bids, and helping to ensure the profitability of our projects. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong mathematical skills, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Your new role includes:
- Analyse project specifications and drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather necessary data
- Develop detailed take-offs and quantity lists
- Prepare itemized cost breakdowns including labour, materials, and equipment
- Review and adjust estimates to ensure feasibility and competitiveness
- Submit timely bid proposals and respond to client inquiries
- Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current market trends
- Assist in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
- Support project teams during the post-bid phase and address any estimation-related queries
Experience you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Estimating preferably with fit out or main contracting experience
- Strong proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and regulations
