WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
 
Our client are looking for an experienced, ambitious and target driven business development manager who will deliver profitable sales within the commercial sales channels. This person will work collaboratively with commercial team and the wider company team.
Ideally they candidates will haev expereince dealing with pipes, valves, fittings and works with the Mechanical and Electrical contractors.

This person will develop and constantly review a sales plan, targeting and growing sales with all current target customer sectors and also contribute in developing a strategic plan to target and grow in other channels.
 
The successful person will be required to work closely with the commercial team, to create a team culture by setting objectives, leading initiatives, measuring and reporting results and giving regular feedback.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • To maintain and grow profitable sales within existing and new channels in the commercial sector.
  • Build and develop key customers and a project pipeline ensuring sustainable sales growth.
  • To expand the customer base through targeting existing and new customers.
  • To assist in the expansion of the product portfolio
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Customers
    • Key account management of major accounts.
    • Manage and grow existing client accounts by delivering exceptional service, understanding client needs and identifying opportunities for cross selling and upselling.
    • Build and maintain a culture putting the customer first.
  • Project pipeline 
    • Drive the project pipeline. Increase the volume of Quotes, value of the quotes and maximise the conversion rate.
    • Manage their sales cycle from lead generation / initial enquiry stage to final acceptance and after sales support.
  • Market opportunities
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the commercial industries. Develop a deep understanding of potential client’s business requirements and tailor solutions to meet these requirements.
    • Provide and regularly update on share of wallet information for key customers.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities to ensure we can offer the latest technology at a competitive price in a timely manner.
    • Analysis customer terms and prices margin to maximise sales and Margin.
  • Strategic
    • Clear focus on Increasing sales and Margin  
    • Analyse sales data, market trends and competitor activity to make informed decisions and adapt strategies accordingly.
    • Set Area budgets and monitor performance versus that.
    • Set long term vision for the key areas of responsibility, formulate a strategy implement the plan and measure results against objectives.
    • Set direction and new ideas / initiatives to ultimately drive incremental sales.
  • Team
    • Work with the commercial sales team, setting clear goals and expectations, and fostering a high-performance culture.
    • Work collaboratively with all internal resources to meet and exceed our customer’s requirements.
    • Liaise with accounts payable / receivable on any outstanding issues, with accounts relating to any possible cash flow issues, with warehouse manager regarding stock / space requirements.
    • Work with the Trade and commercial team to maximise opportunities for IPC.
  • Product
    • Assist in development of the product range aligned to growth with existing and new customers and channels.
    • Review and maintain high value contract materials such as Ductile Iron Pipe / Kennedy Fire Protection Products to ensure that they are available with client requirements.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of all the above to ensure continuous improvement at all times.
 
KEY COMPETENCIES
  • Can do attitude, with a focus on benefiting the overall business.
  • Sound commercial understanding of the commercial market.
  • Previous experience of sales/management is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience in sales, including successful track record in setting direction and goals at sales management level
  • Ability to lead and/or influence the sales team and to manage and accept change.
  • A strategic thinker with a practical approach to turning vision into reality.
  • A very driven self-starter capable of finding new opportunities and delivering profitable sales within new and established sales channels.
  • IT knowledge and skills, to analyse management information to support decision making, and enable decisions to be made.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and Strong organisational skills
 
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS - Educated to a high standard with desirable GCSE and/or a degree education.
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS - International travel where required.
